Why is there a statue of Abraham Lincoln in Tijuana, Mexico?
I recently went on a trip to Mexico. Our group thought it was strange that one of the first things we saw upon arriving in the country was a statue of Abraham Lincoln. Does anyone know why it's there?
not terribly strange at all and here's why: Mexico's president Benito Juárez during the early 1860s, exchanged friendly letters with Lincoln and Mexico remembers Lincoln's opposition to the Mexican-American War.
