When purchasing halogen track lighting, buy all of the parts from one manufacturer, since components are not interchangeable. Remember that power runs through the track for each fixture that is clipped to it. These bulb types are best for accent lighting and also require transformers either on each fixture head or installed into the ceiling.
There are situations where this method of illumination is not suitable, such as if you are intending for it to be the sole provider of light for a particular room, in rooms with low ceilings, in more traditional rooms or in rooms that are formal in design because this type of lighting can clash with either of those styles of rooms.
