Where can I post photo of my dog (dobermann) to seek medical advice?
My Dobermann has some skin problem (goose bumps-like and loss of fur).I think it could be due to allergy. So I'm looking for a website/forum where I can submit a photo and hope that someone could give me some advice as to the cause of the problem. Thanks.
Skin problems are extremely difficult to diagnose in person and nearly impossible from a picture. The vet will have to do scrapings to check for mange mites. If it's allergies, a specialist should take blood samples and run a complete panel to see what the dog is REALLY allergic to.
Many skin problems in Dobes are a result of stress and anxiety; they often suck on their flanks and chew themselves up in a boring or unpredictable environment. Make sure the dog is getting plenty of attention and strenuous exercise every day. They are very smart dogs, and need training to keep their brains busy.
Read some great books on training. (Try not to pick books randomly - there are a lot of bad books out there also!) These are some of my favorites and you can get them on Amazon.com
