How does high water content in fruit affect DNA extraction amounts?
ex: strawberries have a high water content and so less DNA is extracted from them.
The amount of DNA you can extract has nothing to do with the amount of water there it. DNA is soluble in water! The more water will decrease the concentration but not the amount (milligrams or micrograms).
To increase DNA you have to make sure you tear the cells up well enough so the DNA inside the cell can get out. If you don't do this then you won't get as much DNA
Assuming you can tear open the cells well enough all you'll need to do is strain the juice from the pulp and fruit. To precipitate DNA you'll need to add enough ethanol or propanol to make the final % of alcohol above 70%. Therefore, the more water in a fruit, the more alcohol you'll need to get all the DNA out!
This is probably why you aren't getting very much.
