Arlington Heights is located 25 miles to the North West of Chicago and is one of its prominent suburbs. It is the largest village in the USA in terms of population. It is a relatively dry area when it comes to trees and groves. The total area is 16.40 square miles.
In 1853, William Dunton persuaded the Illinois & Wisconsin Railroad to create a stop in the area and named it Dunton. Around the 1840s, a large population of Germans came here. By the late 1850s, this place became renowned for its truck farms and as a supplier of dairy products and vegetables to Chicago. The name came into being in 1887.

It has two stations named Arlington Heights and Arlington Park and they serve Metra's Pacific Northwest Line. This route has daily train services to Harvard and Chicago. Nearby, Metra's North Central Line is also available. Metra has also proposed to open a STAR line covering Arlington Heights. Interstate 90 on the southern edge and Illinois 53 on the western edge are the major roads. It provides easy access to O'Hare Airport of Chicago.
