Am I being unfair towards my friend?
A friend and I had loose plans to go on a cycling holiday around the Lake District - we hadn't made any final arrangements, such as itinerary or accommodation, but we generally agreed that we were going together. However, today I received a phone call from her, of which the gist was, "I got an offer to go to the Lake District for free - I'd invite you, but its when your doing your exams. Sorry, this means we won't be going together; I'll send you a postcard."
She's not one of my not-so-great friends: she doesn't usually take advantage of you when it suits her, but dump you when it doesn't; she usually honours her agreements. This situation has hurt and angered me more than I let on to her. Am I being unfair towards her, though - this is a good outcome for her, after all?
I can understand your upset. But at the same time, she got an offer she couldn't refuse. Me, I'd be a little pissed at first, but hey, life is like that. Maybe you'll find something better to do without her in the future.
