I have seen several renditions of Romeo and Juliet, and although I am not particularly fond of Shakespeare's affect on authors today, he did a great job on his plays. Just lately did I see West Side Story and I was wondering if I was the only one who was disappointed not only when Romeo (Tony) didn't kill himself, he died knowing Juliet (Maria) was alive, and the fact that Maria never even died!
Yes to a certain extent, but the death of the two lovers is the main part of Romeo and Juliet. It just should not be changed.
it's a musical based on the story, its not totaly the same, more modern, well to the time it was written at least.
