Do those snow brushes used to get snow off cars in the winter scratch your paint?
I was wondering if those snow brushes used in the winter to get snow off cars scratch the paint because I think they would? I don't use them too get snow off the car, I just use my gloves, I only use them to get snow off the glass. Why the heck would somebody use that on the body of the car to get snow off if it will scratch the paint?
Depends on how much the snow that fell through the atmosphere picked up abrasive particles like microscopic sand or some other pollutant particulate. With repeated brushing and the particles present, then yes, the clear coat on most newer cars would be scratched.....BUT using your gloves would be many times worse than the soft brush as using your gloves just grinds the abrasive material into the paint.
Use your gloves on the glass.... if you don't want the paint scratched then leave it alone and just let it melt off. I understand the snow must be removed from the hood in order to avoid it blowing up onto the windshield so just use the brush minimally and leave just the slightest dusting on... the motor heat will do the rest.
